"Do not under any circumstances use grease, oil or any lubricating product on the taper of either part. You may however use Loctite 222# to act as a lubricant to assist the flywheel moving up the crankshaft taper. If using Loctite leave for 15 minutes before removing the nut and apply some 222# to nut and thread and retighten as before." Don't quote me Rodney I found this on another 'how to, forum! Sounds like you have a big day ahead of you! |

Also found this: http://www.minimania.com/msgThread/111398/1/1/Flywheel_problems The forth comment suggest dry fitting! I'm the only one up this morning, not allowed to make noise and I'm bored! |

When I rebuilt my motor last year, I put some STP on the crank taper and then put the flywheel on.... the motor was still on the bench in January, and I wanted to take the flywheel off again in January. it ... would ... not ... budge my puller is 3/4" thick, and it had about 2mm of bend across the face of it from the amount of tension that was on it. I bashed, heated, bashed, heated, left it for a week, then gave up and left it on there use a bit of fine valve lapping paste and lap them to each other, then make them really clean and put them together dry |
