Hey All, Going to replace the wheel bearings in the clubby The clubby has drums... so I'm guessing it has the old style bearings in at the moment... Is this kit all i need to replace them? are there any other parts required? and do i need any special tools to do it? http://minisport.com.au/front-timken-ta ... ing-1-side Thanks |

That's all the hardware, you will need grease, too. Tip- 1. After fitting the bearings in the hub and before fitting the seals, wipe the outside of the seals and the matching bore of the hubs with paint thinners. This will dry them of grease etc, and the seals will then stay put when you knock them in. They need no sealant, as they are cased in neoprene. 2. Knock the inner seal in squarely until you can just see the machined chamfer in the bore. If you go too far in the seal will foul the inner bearing cone. [I'm assuming here you do not have the ~.200" wide seal spacer that was used on Cooper S... but if ya got em, fit em] |

Thanks doc. Is this the spacer you are referring to? http://minisport.com.au/mini-front-whee ... eal-spacer do you mean to say they are optional? or I will already have them with the existing bearings? for $3.95 i should probably just get some to be sure... |

Yeah they look like the wide ones, I'd get them for that price. Hubs with ball bearings had a narrower spacer, but they are too narrow to fit with tapered rollers. All they do is set the max depth the seal goes in to, but as I said you can get away with none if you don't knock the seal in far. |

Ordered the new bearings yesterday.... Today when on my way home at lunch time.. i noticed something wasn't right... When i got home, I jacked up the front and found that the drivers side wheel was flopping all around... I guess i'm not driving the mini until the new bearings arrive and I can figure out how to fit them! |
