I think the belief is that the K&N filters are great - but for a mini, the pod ones are not. The best you can do is replace the stock filter with one of the replacement K&N's like this: http://minisport.com.au/mini-kn-air-cle ... 11a2-carby I've heard that the reason for this may be due to the siamesed design on the mini head creating a pulsing airflow, and that the stock elbow in the carby helps relieve that. Also helps if you drill out several large holes on the outside edge of the air filter assembly. Having said all this, I have a K&N cone filter on my mini as it came with my stage 1 kit. It's been a great filter, but I did need to re-oil it after 20,000km. |

I have a 1 1/2 SU with a Performance air filter assembly (including K & N Element) purchased from Link Automotive in Mitcham. http://www.hi-flow.com/HP007aAF.html It was about the same price as official K & N assembly but has a different top and bottom plate with a nice built-in bellmouth. Worth a look if you are after a genuine K & N. |

Can't find anything from Vizard, but have a look here: http://www.calverst.com/articles/FUEL-a ... r_test.htm If you want a summary, just look at the conclusion at the bottom. The cone filter made less power in their testing. |

If you go for a cone or pancake, you'll get better results with a stub stack added. I think Drmini makes them There is a few different KN filters at minispares uk. Cone, pancake and original style ones.. http://www.minispares.com/shop/classic/ ... .aspx?1204 |

nice looking work Dr with the stubstacks. reckon I will get the 19mm drill out and get the K&N element to suit the original housing. |
