Hey I was Wondering if somebody can give me details of my mini, it is 12/72 built, body number prefix of yg2s7 and as far as I can tell the paint looks to be original colour gambier turquoise other numbers on the plate are 1-2-3-4-5a-7-8-10a-1, 14-15-20-22-25-26 are these option and trim level numbers? It has a clubbie front and dash but firewall and rear seat back panel look to be like a roundnose, where all the early clubman's like this or has the nose been changed it has been in a front end crash at some point in its life and had an 1100 engine fitted to it with a remote change box when I bought it, is this the correct motor? Any help with identification of my mini would be greatly appreciated and also will determine how original I keep it

I'm pretty sure those numbers are ADR rules/laws that the car complies with when it was built. On that plate it will proabbly say "Leyland mini" that will tell you what model it is.

It just says mini. Above the build date no Leyland or morris name anywhere

YG2S7 Body prefix on the data/Vin plate relates to a

Mini Clubman YDO 22

Engine No should start with 1001 or 1004

1098 cc engine

re the firewall and rear seat panel, early Clubbie to about 1974? had these holes in, so they could be rotodipped in the Zetland paint shop.
After production moved to Enfield these holes were dropped, also the firewall got reshaped to clear the donut air filter used on the HS4 carby then fitted.

They didn't remove the rotodip spit holes till around 1977.

The car is a base Mini Clubman.

My first mini was a 72 clubman. YG2S75493 engine no.10016058
It had the spit holes. I think the other differences with the 72 base model ones are the "mini clubman" boot badge, and the flat topped rear seat back , If im not mistaken.
It was originally a blue not too far from my dusk blue 850 from memory. But had been resprayed red.
Drums all round is a base model clubman thing too yes??

The only Clubbys that got discs here were the GT (7.5") and the 1275LS (8.4").

YG2S7, Morris Mini Clubman was the replacement for the Morris Mini K, the upper market vehicle of the fleet at that time and built from June 1971 to December 1972 when it was replaced with the 021A2S2M10 version.

Is your car later than YG2S7 8518 by any chance?

I wouldn't really call it the upper market vehicle... that was the clubman GT (YG2S8)

It was just the standard model mini of the time. There was the poverty model YG2S6 and then the upper class model YG2S8. YG2S7 was the one in between. Yes the equivalent model of the mini K which it replaced.
