Hi all, did the Mini K come out with seat belts in the back ? If not, is it difficult to fit them & be legal cheers |

No they weren't standard. You can get them fitted, but they will need engineering, because a. The mounting points are not there, and b. The parcel shelf needs reinforcing (a la Clubby) for the top mounts. |

safest thing to do is to just put them in, the rear windows pop open really easily so for the piece of mind and safety of the dwarfs in tne back, just put them in. |

We have had our 1970 K from new and it never had any belts in the back, I put a set in the rear around 15 to 20 years ago, not engineered but have to be better than no belts at all. |

Back when the cars were new the dealer would sell and fit accessory rear seat belts. They just drilled holes and bolted them in. If you car had had belts fitted in the past there is no requirement to meet the later rules. The 1971 cars came with belts and mounts designed to meet ADR 4 and ADR 5a. In 1975 the belt mount ADR was changed to ADR5b. (I think this was when the reinforced parcel shelf was fitted) So should people with 1971 to 74 cars get worried because their cars aren't as strong? If you want a safe car buy a modern car with pretensioners and airbags. |

I agree with morris. If want a safe car buy a modern car. My car isnt safe for me let alobe the kids. |
