Post subject: | Right hand fuel tank |
Hi guys, first time post. I have a right hand fuel tank that I would like to install into my Deluxe project. What do I need to do to mount the tank in position? Can I make a paper template from the left side to get the position for the right side hole? This is about the last hurdle I have before I can put some paint on. Any guidance would be very appreciated. Chris |

That's how I did it when I fitted one to my wasaMatic. You can buy a RH tank mounting kit but I just shaped a bit of wood for underneath, and used a standard tank strap. |

No the hole for the tank is not a mirror image of the left. Sitnlo posted the correct measurements, do a search. |

How did this work out for you? I was going to make it easy on myself and just make a reverse template of the left side. Please tell if there is any reason why this method will not work. |

I used those measurements and it looks pretty much right. I cut the hole a little bit smaller so I can adjust to suit. I had bought a gulson plastic tank previously but it didnt come with any instructions. I sat that in but didnt like the look of it so its back on the shelf for the moment. Might go back to repairing the metal one. |

The metal bracket on the LH floor, is it required on the right hand side? I have a rusty leyland parts shell that I can cut it from. Also on the back of the seat panel there is a bracket welded on there and a captive nut setup. Should I weld these bits on? |

To attach the RH strap I just drilled thru the seat back and used a nut & bolt. |

Spent a few hours tinkering in the boot area today. I managed to get the right hand tank hole correctly located and the tank is mounted. Looks good. Even the plastic tank I have looks fine now so might I run that. |
