Can anyone recommend a spray paint or another way to get a chrome finish on my kick plates, I've tried this product below and the results are pretty ordinary. ![]() |

Have you put a clear lacquer on, that can make a big difference and make it more durable as well. Also I been told that Krylon Chrome paint is very good have a look at their products and finishing and see what you think. |

Metal polish and a machine like a polisher type grinder brings them shiny |

Thanks guys l reckon the duplicolor instant chrome looks the best out of the 5 but it won't accept a clear coat and the durability wasn't well regarded. I was told that the kick plates can't be re chromed, is that right? How did bmc originally get the finish on the kick plate? Thanks again |

Yer l might strip the paint off them drjbeam, I've got a polishing wheel on my bench grinder and some compound, what do u guys reckon? With all the thousands of parts they re produce for a mini, you would think they would of re created this kick plate! |

The problem I've been told is the clear anodisation usually goes milky if you try to apply it again (alloy not chromed) you could try polish then clear coat, however the problem I encounter is the clear coat doesn't adhere to a highly polished surface. You could try getting them chromed, bit expensive for kick plates. There are chrome paints available (westcoast customers chromed an Audi r8) but I'm not sure of availability or price. Tried looking for a chrome wrap and applying that instead? At any rate they weren't that shiny from the factory. Certainly not a chrome finish. |

Or this ![]() and I think you will find that the original kick plates were silver anodised. |
