I'm a long time lurker, but first time poster. I have a 76 clubman it's a 998cc and I'm in the process of putting it back together having spent the past year striping and prepping it for some new paint. The problem is the car was already stripped down when I bought it and being my first mini I have a couple of questions about putting it back together, particularly at the minute to do with the fuel and brake lines. If I understand correctly the brake lines go down the same side of the car as the battery cable and the fuel line goes down the other side of the car, but what path does the fuel line take? Does anyone have a diagram of how the fuel line gets from the fuel tank to the carb? Thanks in advance for help. |

Hi John, From the tank there is a flexible line that goes out through a hole in the boot and connects to a hard line that pokes out the back of the channel on the passenger side of the car... the hard line pokes about 3-4 inches out of that channel The hard line comes into the engine bay and shoots upwards and towards the drives side a few inches At this point I'm pretty sure there is a short piece of flexible hose.... maybe 4 inches long Then more hard line which goes under the carby and then bends around towards the fuel connection on the carby. There is then a piece of flexible hose (6 inches?) which connects the hard line to the carb (I have an inline filter here as well) Hope this helps |

Thorlek, Thanks for the reply. One of the pipes that came with the car is a pipe that runs done the drivers side of the car, over the rear subframe then across the back of the car and comes out into the boot next to the fuel tank, it also comes up in the drivers side of the engine bay. I thought this was the fuel line but it was running down the wrong side of the car. Any thoughts on what it might be? Thanks. |

That was part of the emission control measures for the car. The fumes from the tank vent were channeled to the engine bay and into the charcoal canister. |
