Hey everyone, thought I'd put this through the local talent before boring my engineer.

I'm after a small cobra style bucket seat for the drivers side in the mini to match the passenger cobra. Considering a poly style with relevant cover to give it abit of comfort - something like THIS

I'm asking if anyone has had something like this locally , if so what rail to use with a mini and any issue with getting it through rego etc ?

Also on a related topic - is it an issue (legally) to convert flip mounted seats to solid mounted ? No one but a roll cage will be in the back.

Any thoughts , appreciate it ! Thanks

Ususally converting the flip seats to solid isn't a problem - but going the other way is.
If the car has the back seat removed and is registered as a 2 seater you won't have issues with the front seats.

For sure- just something I'd thought a picky engineer might have a whinge at.
I want something solid for motokhana and track work :0)
What options are there for solid rails for the mini? There is some extended ones on eBay from the UK ?

Just updating with a Q

What's the process in installing seat hooks on a pre 75?
Also is this a fine alternative to making a solid seat mount to begin with ?
Thanks

If you were going to go to the trouble of putting in the seat hooks it would probably be easier and safer to just use a solid seat mount.

I used the Cobra tilting subframes in my '73 van and they bolted straight up. Bit weird that the vans come with tilting subframes, because you don't exactly need access to the rear. I didn't realise there was a solid option or I would have gone with that. Do you have a link to the ebay one?

If this helps

As for the seats - a quick google tells me the floor pan hook to hold the seat was from 74' onwards - might be something to consider?

I had a bucket in mine, albeit not ADR approved but the rails were to Vicroads standard. Seat must be ADR approved for road use obviously.
I had rails made up by the local fab joint to my specs. I was told that the bucket was fine if I completely removed my rear seat.
But at the same time the rwc guy I went to told me that I needed rear seatbelts if I was to keep the rear seat... even though my 69 never came with them.
