I want to get some additional badges made up for the boot of the Mini, to match the existing ones. Anyone know what font the standard badges are? - eg the Morris Mini Deluxe or Morris Cooper I will have them laser cut and milled to look the same. |

I worked it out recently, but you probably won't like the answer (which I've temporarily forgotten). The font was heavily modified for the badges, it is bolder and manually kerned (by the bloke who filed the originals out of brass). To get a computer generated font to be an exact match is a lot of work. I'll try to track down what I worked it out to be. Alternatively you can try to work it out yourself. These sites are really helpful: http://www.identifont.com/identify.html http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ Tim |

mate of mine got some badges printed in plastic by shapeways.com and then chromed, I haven't seen them but apparently they turned out really well - less than $50 for the printing bluewhitecoopers1968 wrote: Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper just to buy new repro badges.... Hi Simon, Tim, Thanks for the links, and try. I will try and get a Matic badge. That will give me most of the letters I am looking for. All except the W in Twini. Fortunately all the letters are capitals. |

Yeah W is tricky. That font was used for a lot of different words but I can't think of any with a W. Mark Forster from the Mk1 Forum in the UK had a custom made badge done for his Mini Sprint. It looked really good. Tim |

This is the closest I could find. Its called Rockwell Bold and is pretty much identical to the font used by Morris before the BMC merger. It was mainly used for things like titles in brochures and the covers of manuals - sort of a corporate identity. I'm pretty sure this font was used on the Morris Minor badges, then the Morris Mini got a slightly squashed bolder version of it. If you're keen you should be able to use it as a starting point and squash it a bit. At least it shows what a W would look like. ![]() Tim |

I reckon Blackoak Std is the closest I've seen - http://fontzone.net/font-details/blackoakstd - go to preview, and type in MORRIS. The R's need their tails cut off and the rest of it fattened up, but it's pretty close |

Why don't you employ a graphic designer to do you a vector image of what you are after? Surely there is someone on here that wouldn't mind a carton of beer! (Or do we have nobody proficient in Illustrator?!) |
