What's the best buy for A+. I'm currently running a Nissan conversion, but have had some trouble. I've got a standard A+ on at the moment and I can get the car to run, while I have the Pulsar dizzy checked. If I'm to commit to another A+ type as the current is on loan, what the best advice? What about the 59D Powerspark? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mini-MKI-1000-1300-A-Points-Distributor-59D-by-Powerspark-/360661531027?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53f91a3993&_uhb=1 |

I'd take one of those from Simon BBC, but get it with an electronic module in it, and no vac advance if running a Weber. ![]() Also watch how much centrifugal advance it has, many aftermarket dizzies have too much. With your modified cam etc you only need around 9deg at the advance plate, advance all in by 4000rpm or sooner. That is 18 deg at the crank, so @ 30 deg total advance (~the usual) you would have about 12 deg static timing. |

Imho I would get one graphed for your engine spec. I got Graham Russell to do my metro A+ one and I have just re done my one in my Moke myself There are quite a few books about on the subject and the Internet is a treasure chest of knowledge. I cannot see how you can guarantee a successful out come if you just buy off buy the shelf Kiwiinwgtn |

GR dynoed a 1360 for an ausmini member last week, the chinese made dizzy was still advancing at 6200 engine rpm! HP was good but it would be better down low after the dizzy curve gets fixed. |

Yes, the one I sourced from the UK also had to be re-graphed as it had 40* IN THE DIZZY and was still advancing when checked on the dizzy machine ![]() ![]() ![]() These dizzy's should be added to the New Parts - Rubbish list. |

I put a Stealth Blackbox under my dash. It sits in series with the -ve coil to dizzy wire. Any advance you please as well as dwell. No more dizzy calibrations, and it runs a low low resistance coil. Putting it in was a bit of a learning curve for me wrt dizzy timing, but quite straight forward fit out. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83483 ![]() ![]() |

I got mine from Rob Roy Historic Spares in Melbourne. He's on eBay as well. $188 each. Cheaper than a rebuild and recurve. http://www.robroyhistoricgarage.com.au/ ... pares.html http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Stealth-Blac ... 2339907df6 Also I suppose you should need a module for the dizzy if you still run points, no reason I can understand why you HAVE to, its just an on off switch after all...but you can remove the the majority of the remnant scatter that way. They sell them as well. |

I know! That is very odd. They're only a little cheaper than here in the US as well. |
