Is this a Bonaldi brake booster and should it be on my '68 MK1 S or should I have a VH44? If it is a Bonaldi, were they only on the Innocenti's? ![]() |

A 68 S should have a Lockheed, IMO. Well, mine did... |

Is that an alloy cylinder? The repros use alloy, not sure about the license bonaldi. Lockheed 5 1/2 were steel cylinders for sure, and were used up to sometime in 69 prior to the full Mk2 changeover to VH44J boosters. Does that tag say Bonaldi? Perhaps someone bought it in as a spare part. |

yep my 69 mk2 cooper s had been changed to a PBR vh44 but still had the Lockheed bracket holding it by 1 bolt, full dodgey bro. I have sourced a Lockheed booster to put back in. Flute I'm eyeing off your nose clamp ![]() |

Okay, thanks Aussie Brian, sounds like I might have original brackets then for a Lockheed? Still need to find a Lockheed then. There is one on eBay ATM but is that the way to go? I might give hydroboost a call to see what the go is. I read previous threads on this subject and it sounds like they are getting harder to get. One thread said to use a reproduction by Bendix from mini mania but they are $800+!! Mick, the sticker is one that says ABS and someone has impressed Bonaldi into the metal of the sticker. Either way it sounds like it will have to go if I am going to make my car more original. Not sure if hydroboost would put it towards a change over if they have any. |

Is the front body definitely aluminum or painted? |

Looks like a Bonaldi to me, same as used in early Alfas 70's vintage (105's etc) |

I did read they were used in Alfas so you are probably right. Maybe they just figured it is right for the job when the original needed replacing. Mick, I looked again and it is alloy, not paint. Here is a pick and of the sticker too. The shiny cylinder underneath is just an air horn compressor (which will have to go too!) ![]() ![]() I guess this plastic reservoir is wrong too! ![]() |

Yes it looks like a Bonaldi ,with the Alloy cylinder ,they are different size internally, not really suitable for a mini. Quite often seen though on Mk1 S as original equipment is the Bonaldi booster with the Lockheed steel cylinder.... |

The clutch master cyl looks like it has a plastic cover clamped around the outside. Not original and very ugly. Aftermarket type like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-GMC10 ... 56427dbb1d |
