A chap named Andy Mac has attened a few Sydney Minis meetings, he recently arrived from the UK and has just returned back to load a container with his belongings for a permanent move out here.
Apparently he can get hold of pre A+ engines and gearboxes. He is keen to know if he brought out some 1275's would anyone be interested purchasing and if so what sort of money would people pay?....

Depends on conditions and what we get, short blocks, running engines, bare blocks and cranks etc etc

A rough idea in price I'd say would be;
These are without accessories like manifolds, starters, dizzys, alternators etc)
-Short block (complete block without head or gearbox) $300-$400.
-Long block (Complete engine without gearbox) around $400+.
-Complete drivetrain lump (head, block, flywheel & clutch, gearbox, diff) $500-$800 depending on accessories.
The big problem is nothing is checked and doesn't come with any warranties. We have to treat all these parts like secondhand items that came out of some old guys shed he's had sitting around for years. The cranks could be cracked, rods bent, seized engines, damaged bores, worn out gearboxes etc etc.
If he could offer full and complete running engines ready to bolt in and drive we could literally come and see them running on the ground well then the price jumps up to around $1000-$2000 :wink: .

Blocks alone bring $300-400 these days, S ones more.
And heads complete are $200 up, double that or more if good condition ready to fit.

he'll do well - tightarses aside, plenty of people will want them. Not hard to get $800+ for a complete 1275

advertise them in the state club magazines, ausmini is a pretty limited market

Last two blocks I brought were $100 and $150 brought last year.

yep, and the last two complete 1275 motors I bought were $100 and $150 respectively, so that must mean you got ripped off, right? probably not, I was in the right place at the right time, and you were probably too.... there are always bargains about, but buying a complete motor instead of scrounging a bit from here and a bit from there is worth the extra few dollars for some
