Just thought I'd relate a moving experience!! Im in the process of moving a "78 Moke from Sydney to Adelaide but the carrier (Prixcar at Arndell Park) rang me on Monday to tell me the Moke wouldn't start (it ran when they picked it up but apparently was missing so bad it couldn't make it up the ramp and then just stopped). The person I bought the Moke off did tell me it hadn't been serviced for at least two years and that he had no mechanical knowledge but as it was running, I used Prixcar as they were the cheapest carrier of running cars. Prixcar said I could either arrange for another company to carry the (now non-running) Moke or get a mechanic to fix it. I rang a company called BnJ Automotive at Arndell Park at 4.00pm that day as they were a couple of hundred metres down the road and the owner/mechanic Baj (pronounced Barg) although initially reluctant as he was so busy, went straight down to have a look. Unfortunately Prixcar closes at 5.00pm so Baj didn't have much time that afternoon but by lunchtime the next day (Tuesday) he rang and told me the Moke was now running fine (new sparkplugs, a battery charge and a bit of tweaking). At this stage we hadn't discussed the time the job took or how much it would cost. Now I am 1400kms away and an unscrupulous operator could have raped me on the price but Baj charged only $90 for the service call and the new plugs. He was very friendly, honest and nothing was too much trouble. I know mechanics sometimes get a bad rap but If anyone needs a good honest mechanic around Arndell Park, I'd strongly recommend you call Baj at BnJ Automotive (02) 9679 8409 BTW-the Moke is now loaded and will be here tomorrow (Friday). You could say he was your barge over troubled waters. oooo, that was bad. It's a bit tricky dealing with distances and trying to get decent help at a reasonable price. Glade it all come together ok. |
