Does anyone remember seeing a photograph of Rauno Aaltonen driving an Aussie Mk2 S around markers at an ice rink when he
was here on a BMC promotional tour, circa 1970? I think it was in a book, but might have been in a long-lost magazine.
I've looked in lots of the obvious books like "Minis Down Under", but can't remember where I saw it.

The Mini ice dance was cut from The Italian Job...its on the DVD

Which rink? Prince Alfred Park (Sydney) outdoor?

I have seen that film clip from the Italian Job - most likely filmed in England as some of the
car scenes were.
No, what I remember was a single car on ice and it was taken in Australia.

Hopkirk and Makinen did some skidding demos on water at Zetland and Sandown in 1964.

If it is of any help I remember when Brian Culcheth was out here for the 1970 Southern Cross rally he did a promotion driving a Cooper racing against an ice skater on a rink.

jimb might be right - the photo I remember didn't have any skaters but they might still have been there. I still thought it was
Aaltonen... and it's never been reprinted, like many other famous photos.

for some reason the Macquarie Centre rink keeps popping into my head....
