Hi All,

I have been out of the mini scene for a while.
I am now back with a 1978 mini LS (built Sept) which I picked up yesterday.It has been off the road for 12 years.

The previous owner said the engine is not original and he said it was imported from the UK,the engine S/N starts with 12H902UH and the car chassis nbr is XNFAD18Y.

Can anyone advise which car this engine comes out of or is this the correct S/N engine for this car.

Thanks

The brains trust should be able to confirm this info taken from the Victorian Mini Club website (which mentions Mini's Plus as the data source) -

Car Type - Engine Number Prefix - Body Prefix - Capacity
Leyland Mini LS 1275 Sedan - 12H902U - XNFAB18Y - 1275cc
Leyland Mini LS 1275 Sedan - 12H706AAH - XNFAD18Y - 1275cc

The 1275LS has the body prefix of XNFAD18Y/123456 and an engine prefix of 12H902UH000123.

XNFAB18Y is a 998 LS.
B = 998
D = 1275

12H706AAH is a motor for a UK built 1275GT. It is not a 1275LS motor despite what those lists say. :evil:

1970cooper, it looks like a 1275LS with the right motor to me.

Thanks for the info Chux and Morris 1100.

So my car has the correct engine fitted.
That's good news.
