Ok, i have been working on my loom trying to ascertain how much of it has been butchered. A fair bit from the looks of things. One of my issues is as follows
This is for a Mini K Van
Coming from the alternator the are the 3 main wires, Plus earth(earthing via the engine) One wire is the Alterantor Charge light in the cab and the other two are the alternator outputs. One goes to the starter selinoid, and hence back to thye battery whilst on charge. Now from my book the other output should go to the power side of the fuse box, via a regulator. (regulator redundant as the alt has a built in unit)

Currently that ouput is going to a a relay which in turn goes to a wire that runs into the cab and goes....NOWHERE.
Now i have checked to see where the fuse box is getting it's power from and it turns out that the power is ALL coming from the selinoid.

My question is this, do i run the cable back to the fuse box as it should be or do i leave it as is. I am guessing that i don't have a intermediate switch (miniK) so it shouldn't matter if both sides continue to have power. Or should i just not be lazy and run the wire as i should. Or am i completly wrong with my deductions and should do something else.

Cheers

Aaron

If you have a later Alternator now with internal reg, the brown/yellow wire is hooked to the `ind' terminal on the alternator. The other green/? one was the field control circuit from the old 15AC's regulator. Goes nowhere now. Just tape it up.

BTW it doesn't matter what you do with the old regulator edge connector on the inner guard- you can leave it plugged in to the old regulator, or just unplug it.

I have pulled the old regulator wiring out completly. Loom has no tape at the moment and i am going thru it and fixing the "Fixes" So having the later alternator, can i use the 2nd output (remembering it has the two large Spades and a 3rd smaller(the alt light)) can i use the other one to power something like driving lights. I know i would still have to wire everything up with fuses and relays, but this would decrease the amount of current going thru the Main power circuit. Good idea or not? I am just tossing around a few ideas.

Cheers

Aaron

I just use one big brown wire from the + terminal to the solenoid's battery terminal. Same as 15AC had. Works for me- Clubbie 15ACR & 16ACR alts don't put out much more juice than original one anyway.

Yeah that's the go with a big alternator. Not that a 17ACR is big...
When I tidy my engine bay I'll add another.
 Don't connect the big brown wire to the <-> terminal on the alt by mistake, it'll let ALL the smoke out of the wire...
