There is often discussion about the location, font size and content of various stampings and labelling on the Mini body done during the production process. Below is a section of the relevant page from the LMCA Standards Manual that describes these for Clubman bodies. The measurements are in inches. You'll see the body prefix is stamped in 1/4" font and the body number in 3/8" font on the radiator shroud.

G'day RH, long time no chat. :P

You probably saw a few of my posts about the red/white Cooper S going back to NSW Police as a display vehicle? That is the one that was originally Kelp Beige like yours, and only a few body numbers away from yours as I remember. Unfortunately they decided to paint it Crystal White rather than the original colour but at least monotone white was one of common options for NSW Police pursuit vehicles at the time.

The Baltic Blue S is about to undergo a major restoration. David Walker has agreed to do the engine and gearbox, and I have the premier Mini body repairer ready to bring the body back to original condition.

Have yet to find an original white faced dial for the SW540 Police Special speedo so I made one up by reverse-imaging the standard SW black-faced dial. Have you had any joy in finding an original? At least I've had visual confirmation that the dial was white as you can see a few times in the video in this thread - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=84816 It also shows the normal centre speedo as inoperative which I had been told by several retired NSW Police who drove the S whilst in the STP.

What stage of repair is your ex-NSW Police S?
