So my S driveshafts are missing the thick circlipthat butts up against the CV.

Part no: 17H8597.

Unavailable.

Can you get them? Where?

How do you put them on?

Is it easier to find new shafts?

Need some soon ish.

Any advice appreciated.....thanks.

My question to this is :
How do get them off an existing drive shaft ?
Can they be re-used ?

The alternative is these :

Thanks for the link. I had spotted those while looking for the circlips.

I think the large circle on my shafts cracked in a few pieces and disintegrated .

Also don't know how to get them off another shaft...

You don't mean the retention detent clips? They're made of thin piano wire and can be made yourself.

No not the thin clips.

The larger clip closer to the inside end of the spline.

I've got a spare shaft here, I'll suss the clip out in the morning.

Thanks doc.

Is there a difference between Cooper S shafts and non S shafts?

Eg higher spec metal/hardening process?

Can I use standard shafts?

Cooper S shafts are higher spec steel but I used std 850 ones on my 1st 1220>1275 Mini, just put the hardy spicer joints onto the splines.
S ones have a raised diameter part way along the shaft, also their length is very slightly different. But std shafts do work OK, particularly on a road car. If rallying I'd like S ones at least.
