I have started the resto.

Just wondering if I can undo these screws without the backing plate falling down? It doesn't seem to have a captive backing and you cant get inside if anything drops. Thanks.

The back plate is captive and will not move very far at all. You will easily get the screw back in again.

It's 20 years since I replaced mine but I'm pretty sure the tapped plate inside is captive.

Thanks, loosened the screws and realized the back was moving so stopped in case it fell but then thought if it can then how did they put it there. Better safe than sorry, thanks for replies.
