Hi guys

Following on from my post about tyres for new 6x10's.

Does anyone know / have experience with fitting 6" wide wheels? Do you need to cut anything out, for the wheels in question it says body mods required, but that does just mean fitting flares? (which I have) or do they rub?

cheers

My 5x10's just touch, so 6x10's probably will. At the front of the front guards.

I suppose it depends on the offset, and heavily on the height of the car but the mamba 6x10s rubbed the flare supports on the wheel outside to the turn. I couldn't really turn the car very efficiently. My car is Hydro however, and it would be different now I have it at its full height.

See these photos, same offset as yours but in 12 inch, diameter of these is 19.1inch, if you used a 165/70R10 it would have exactly the same diameter as mine

Did you have to modify the body to get the fit under? If so how hard was it?

edit: ps your wheels look great!

no mods yet, but obviously need wider flares, might need mods if I go lower

Yeah the width gives the car such a nice looking stance.

So you don't have any problems with rubbing or anything? That sounds promising

I purchased some 6x10 ultralights from UK from minisport from memory for my GT.

They arrived and I bolted them on. I had the horrible black plastic innocent flairs. They stuck out bad. So I had to go and buy some really wide flairs "group 2 race" from mini sport.

I couldn't turn the wheels, they hit the guards at the front so I attacked it with a hammer and dolly (would have been easier to cut it) and made the front of the arch bigger.

Here is a pic with the innocent type flairs, so you know what I mean.

Well - if there will have to be mods like that I think I'll pass. I like the fat look but don't want to hammer/cut anything.

Unless there are 6x10's that will definitely fit without mods? Like Minators or genuine minilite's?
