Hi guys,

New guy here. Im currently rebuilding my 1974 Leyland Mini. Im trying to source some parts, inparticular, the front quater window seals and seals for the wind up window.

I have found them on minisport.com.au, but at $230, that seems a bit excessive?

Anyone know where to source them at a cheaper price?

Thanks

The rubbers for aus wind up window doors are a pain in the arse.

The quarter widow seals are crazy expensive (compared to other rubber seals)
and they are a huge PITA to replace, set aside a few hours the first time you try it!

I think I paid about $80 for one quarter window rubber and yes a big PITA to fit. Sit them out in the sun for awhile it makes them easier to fit, they will appear too long to start with but don't cut them because as they go in they end up fitting perfectly.

Check the quarter window whilst it's out, when old the frame tends to pull away from the glass at the bottom. The frame then sits too low and can drag the rubber out of the channel. :(
Mine were like this, so they are shut permanently now.

Yep, They are probably the most expensive piece of rubber on the car.
I seriously considered using silicon to seal the quarter light closed permanently when i saw the price!

I found another supplier for these rubber seals, mgspareparts.com.au.

They carry some mini parts, came in at $176 including postage for LH&RH seals and upright seal for the quarter vent/window.

Thats alot cheaper than minisport.com.au - $230 + postage
Karcraft $198 + postage
Spectrum Rubber $190.35 +Postage

Hope this is of use to others who are looking for these seals in the future.

On another note, my shopping cart on the uk site minispares.com is getting quite full and pricey!!

look on the bright side...
A mini has 2 less doors that most old cars that people are restoring.

I think the hunt for parts is just as much fun as putting them on the car!
