Hi

Would anybody have a photo or two of an original Australian Clubman GT Oil Cooler.
I have the original GT oil cooler hoses but I would like to see what the original cooler looked like.

Regards Peter

If you Google Clubman GT oil cooler and select images you'll see a few pictures of the cooler and supporting brackets that are unique to the GT.

This is a Mk2 Cooper S Oil Cooler. I ready to be corrected, but I thought the oil coolers themselves were the same, right?

The design seems to have been finalised for oil coolers as a standard shape many years ago, so they're not at all that different from the modern types we can buy, with varying quality and price.

I think what they mean is the mounts on the car. On the cooper s it's on the grille panel and Clubmans mount to sub frame don't they?

I thought the original question was quite clear - "what does the oil cooler look like". Nothing about where and how it mounts.

There's a set of brackets that hold the cooler to the front panel on the GT. You'll see them if you use the Google search I mentioned above. :D

I was referring to what was mentioned on the Google link as you described, maybe I read a different item. I can read.

Interesting, ...I wonder did the factory trim away the unnecessary top mounts from the coolers, or did the originals come that way.

There's a few differences to the recommended Serck Oil Cooler replacements.
The pressed (not drilled) holes down the side, the missing top mounts (unnecessary and in the way when servicing the dizzy, alternator and oil filter) and the folding of the sheet metal in places.

This image of the GT Oil Cooler also demonstrates.

Mick that all looks correct. EXCEPT!! The bent tabs on the bottom of the cooler are actually spot welded to the mini body, not bolted like in that picture.

And the oil cooler and bracket bolts to these tabs and the top part of the bracket bolts just behind the number plate.

I will see if I can grab a couple pics of mine on my car.

Here are some pics. Not the best or the clearest. But hopefully you get an idea and answers your problems.

Just comparing against the cooper S one shown in Micks link. the holes up the side of the oil cooler are on opposite ends.

The Cooper S has them closest to the hose end, where as my GT has them closest to the base.

Just something interesting (That's from a 12/71 GT). I have another 11/72 GT I will have to check the cooler from it.

Huh, that's odd :)

They're probably there to stop water pooling inside the case. It may be they can be flipped by the guy doing the manufacture.
