When I bought the latest project car it came with some spares. Amongst it was a Barry Ekins Supercharger kit. I had never heard of it but apparently it was available in the 60's as a bolt on kit. everything is there including a copy of the original road test advertising the kit. Has anyone ever seen one of these or heard of them? I will take some pics of the whole kit tomorrow and post up. G. |

Yes I'm aware of a setup currently fitted to a mini. I think it was even featured in an issue of Mini Experience. I'll see if I can find any further details as I know the owner was looking at doing a rebuild but hasn't started as yet. Wayne |

Is a pretty big roots blower in the kit, but not a big fan of the manifold design. Runs an SU carb, V belt pulley. Pretty nice for a period bolt on job. |

Would love to see this kit, I have a Shorrock kit, so guessing it is similar? |

Thanks Monaco, That's pretty interesting. The kit I have here uses the same roots blower and also uses an SU carby. Fairly sizeable blower, similar to the one I had on the black 850 a few years ago. I will assemble it tomorrow and take some pics. I don't think I will use it so will probably put it up for sale. Somebody may want a period supercharger setup. |

Barry Ekins used to advertise his superchargers in Sports Car World magazine and RCN in the mid to late '60s. He did them for a range of cars including the Austin 1800 which featured in one of his ads. I always dreamed of putting one on my 1800 ute but could never afford it as a student. |

Its a very neat little kit and I look forward to finding out how it goes. Guess the new owner will have to let us know. G. |

It is a great looking kit. Barry Ekins was supposed to be "the man" for superchargers in Sydney in the 60's. |

Guys the kit has sold to someone on the forum, so its going to a good home. I couldn't see me using it on anything I have here so rather than have it sit on a shelf again its gone to a new home. |

If the new owner wants some assistance, the person I know with one already fitted has offered to provide assistance if or where he can. Just get the new owner to pm me if he's a member and I'll provide the details of the person I know so they can contact. |
