Hi, I need to buy a degree wheel to time in the cam for my engine. What degree wheels fit on Mini crankshafts with minimal hassles or modification? Thanks, |

They all have a 5/8"? hole in the middle already. Mine is 5/8" and I use a flywheel bolt to hold it against the harmonic balancer. it is just the right length. A bent bit of wire under a front plate bolt is the temporary TDC pointer. After I've finished playing with the cam timing and offset keys, I fit the timing cover etc and torque up the normal pulley bolt (with Loctite 262 and no lock washer). |

I thought there was different sized holes in the middle and different overall diameters? |

Get the biggest one you can find for best accuracy - i have an Aluminuim Mr Gasket one, never measured it but must be close to 300mm Diameter. You can always change the hole size to suit, or use a big blob of well applied blue tack to do the job. |

I found a great picture of one on the interweb and printed it A3 size, stuck it to 3mm mdf I got from a pallet liner and drilled a hole through the centre. Used it several times and now it's floating around the "mates" who borrowed it. Probably will need to make another when needed. |

You can use a protractor to check for accuracy, but you won't find an error. A circle is a circle. ![]() |

Yeah the interweb is very good for product sellers to tell you how to avoid the service costs, service people tell you how to avoid the product costs and marketing people telling us all we're paying to much! Guilty Your Honor |

In this day and age it wouldn't take to much to draw one up to the exact size one would want. ![]() Not that I could be bothered to do that but still... |

You get pub points if the degree wheel is from a recognised cam grinder or tuning house. Mine is Erson Cams (USA) I think. ![]() |

Oh! It's beautiful Mick ![]() Hey Mick, howabout getting a few done up and next time ausmini needs a few coins in the bucket, we can buy one and with the right size hole in the middle we can hang it on the lounge room wall. Fair dink..I'll place my order right here and now. ![]() |

Ha! I wouldn't do it to you ![]() The center is marked by the cross, and I used a wad punch from my gasket maker to make the hole for the bolt. |
