Trying to gain knowledge on the above - and trying and work out differences - Mk1/mk11, British build etc. and date frames ( eg Pre 1965)

I don't have a car i am buying or selling nor am i trying to Cooperise my plain old mini for resale etc, just trying to build knowledge.

Things like the Id plate placement ( or educate me to use the correct terms for consistency) .. near where the typical brake servo would be or more over towards the wiper motor? Similarly for stampings on the early stuff.

All infor and thoughts appreciated. Darryl

I chatted to Darryl offline about this and suggested he create a post seeking this information in the hope it will end up as a 'sticky' that can be used as an ongoing reference. I know the topic of the content and location of ID plates, ADR compliance plates, firewall and radiator shroud and bonnet gutter stampings has been discussed many times in the past, but the resulting information is embedded in numerous threads and is not easy to access. I'm hoping that, together we can produce a complete and generally agreed list that other enthusiasts can use to help identify their car. Having a photograph of the stamping or plate for each example would add to the value of the data.
