Many of us have taken advantage of the club permit scheme. What is the general feeling about the changes coming through in the third quarter of 2014 as outlined on the AOMC and Vicroads sites |

fair enough, I have seen some very suspect cars on the road with Club plates, I even know of one idiot that had his commodore on club plates and uses it for a daily driver, so its d/heads like him that make the boundaries move and the genuine car buffs have to keep updating the rules to enjoy the privilages. Just need to figure out how to send the pics to the registrar, my suggestion is to burn them onto disc, think they would be easier to store in that format. any ideas on that suggestion.

Compressing and emailing them would probably be quicker and easier. I think the new rules are good, should have little/no effect on the clubs/club members that respect the cps. |

At least in Victoria, you have a reasonably fair system with the log books. The Qld "SIV" system sucks and the parent HMC of Qld seem to have no interest in approaching the DMR to upgrade it |

From what I've heard, it's very positive. It did swing too far towards allowing "cheap rego for sh*tboxes" of which I've seen a lot, and a swing back the other way was inevitable. minijcar wrote: Many of us have taken advantage of the club permit scheme. I'm just wondering how far the swing will be. It'll be interesting to watch authority and media activity toward the "club rego" fraternity. I'd hate to see a yellow canary for 12" wheels on my van if I had submitted the pics with 10's while being passed by a super lifted 4wd that would'nt be within manufacturers specs on std rego. Will we be targeted? |

It will be interesting to see how the scheme progresses over the next couple of years. Speaking to some friends who are traffic cops, I am told the system is being wildly abused and the cops and vic roads aren't too happy with it at all. It is not uncommon to see un-roadworthy cars on club plates driving around and also cars and trucks on club plates being used for work or business which is also against the rules. The people abusing the scheme will no doubt cause it's demise. |

I for one would be much happier if the insurance part of rego was associated with the driver, not the car. I can only drive one of mine at a time and any time they are driven it is by a licensed driver. So my licence renewal should be annual and contain the 3rd party insurance for the maximum vehicle type I want to be allowed to drive. The cars should just have an admin fee for their rego. When is that Motoring Enthusiast Party senator going to start helping us out? M |

M He can't even explain to a journalist what the definition of aftermarket is without stuttering and walking out. I highly doubt he will be able to cobble together a sentence which isn't read off paper and undersigned by a Mr C. Palmer. |

I probably chose the wrong words 'taken advantage' . We have registered our cars on the club permit scheme due to its good cost versus use ratio... The thing i'm interested in going forward is the limitations the new rules appear to impose beyond the obvious ones of driving work vehicles on the scheme etc. these can be categorised as the sins of the few affecting the majority.... I have been cautious about moving my registered cars over to the cps. The only car i have on the cos at the moment is my original 62 850. Flutes comments would suggest that there is a real possibility that the proposed changes are only the first step. |
