Seen this on gumtree and there was one out the back of mini king before the move

How many of these were made and were they made in sa where all the old stretched Commodores and ford taxis were made before they went to bubble back ford station wagons then toyota hi top mini busses with hoist in the back

I was a carer to a mate in a wheelchair for 5 years till he died in 2000 and after that done disable kids school runs in them toyota mini busses for a few years as a carer

So been pushing wheelchairs for a while

Wow, nice find!
I never knew mini's were modified to carry wheel chairs.

I'll have to send the link to my dad, ever since he retired from "real" work, he now spends a day or 2 a week building and repairing wheel chairs for kids and adults.

There's one floating around Perth. It was for sale a few years ago, then I saw it at a car show a while later. Not sure who owns it now, I thought it was a one off. I didn't realise there was more than one.

The B.M.C. Experience magazine (Issue 8 January to March 2014 page 66-70) ran a five page article about Mobility Mini's.

First produce in Reading, UK (1963) they were named the Chairman, by 1981 150 Chairman's were on the road. Richard Kearns from Adelaide produced a dozen or so here in Australia between 1978 to 1979. Anyway if you wanna know more read the article it's interesting :D

there are 2 mini vans modified for wheelchairs i know of for sale in Adelaide
