Post subject:  No wonder the historic plate scheme is under review
I know it is not a mini or even a significant car of any sort, this is why the current scheme is under review.
I would think that the club person and or club who issued the rego for this car may be a little nervous about now,
if not they should be.

So its a VH body on a VN Chassis/ Drive Train?

I would think that is something that needs to be engineered for sure!

No doubt its for sale because he doesn't want to be stuck with it when the club rules change.

My brother fitted a V6 into his VH, it was engineered. The car never came with that motor as an option, so needed a Blue plate.
The later motors can be swapped into the early commodores, if you use the right mounts and cross members it all just bolts together like it was factory.
That guy is obviously not a fan of playing by any rules! (idiot)

Ive seen a fc wagon running vn everything only thing of the fc that was original was the body and wanted $22000 for it
My ex sold her piece of crap vr/vs for $3000 so i reckon the fc would be worth not much more than that

Maybe...but the fault with the system is that a lot is left to the individual clubs interpretation of the rules...a truly Australia-wide set of rules and guidelines are needed :idea:

Nothing to do with the CPS itself, just the fact that a proper roadworthy isn't required. Which has been my biggest issue with it from the start

Isn't the intention to allow the use of cars 30 years and older for restricted club use?
Isn't that what the bloke was doing?

Or was he using it everyday to run over small animals and children?

Well, in Vic they do get 90 days basically `unlimited' use, just put it in the logbook as you go. Unlike the primitive system we are hobbled with in NSW.... :roll:

I know the car next door has the normal green qld plates and hasnt seen qld roads in about 3 years only nsw roads

And you have a choice weather to go full rego or historic if you dont like the system go back to full rego

In some places he would be praised for fitting a more efficient and cleaner motor into and old car.

So fitting a late A+ to an early Mini is out then? Or is it just Holdens that attract our anger? (a 61 Mini with a 99 motor is probably ok but an 84 Commodore with an 88 motor is more evil?)

With a mini it is same car and the same motor, in my opinion the changes to the mini over the years were of no real consequence. weather the engine is three months newer or 38 years.

The commodore was a vastly altered car in those few years, and the motors were totally different, that's why it needs to be engineered.

Historic rego is to ease occasional use of Historic cars, the clue is in the name, a modernised car is no longer Historic, by definition

note - it's not called "Historic Permit" - it's called "Club Permit" - it's not just strictly historics... which makes the restriction to 25+ year old cars a bit confusing, but I guess that's a different story

I think the new changes will mean a car like that should have an "M" suffix, instead of a "H" to show that the car is modified
