Hi all,

Anyone used these: http://www.minispares.com/product/Classic/C-AJJ4031B.aspx

I'm looking at fitting them to replace the existing flexible and rigid lines.
My thoughts are drilling the tab (and using a rubber grommet) on the rear trailing arm (where the rigid line connected to the flexible line) and feeding this new line through there to make it more rigid.

Also, I thought the less joints in pipes the better. This way it goes from the rear brake proportioning valve to a steel bundy tube, then into this flexible pipe, then straight into the cylinder.

Car is Hydro and will be running std 10" rims.

Any thoughts?

Firstly you need to be aware they might not be legal in oz, nothing to do with hose just the fact they're not oz TD approved. Brake hoses fitted here have approval numbers. I, personally can't see any advantage of replacing pipe with hose, some may have different opinion. You can, if you really want the braided hoses, get them from the likes of Enzed , Goodrich etc. Enzed make them to your specs and are approved by DMT.

I'd be concerned with extra flex in the hoses compared to solid lines, it could give you a lower pedal. Mind you, the hoses are not that long...

Thanks, that all makes sense!
I was thinking of using 1 flexible pipe as I thought that 2 joints (1 in the subframe and 1 in the wheel cylinder) is less likely to cause issues than the 4 joints using the original method (subframe, traiing arm, wheel cylinder)

Justin, I recently asked this same question. It seems to me that the fewer connections the less likely I am to have issues. More or less, the response I got was that in 50 years of Mini'ing nobody has had those type of issues. Good enough for me - the brake pipe remains!

Yes, I was beginning to think the same. Similar to the old saying 'If it's not broken - don't fix it!' It's been working for this long and it's been working well so why change.

Speaker, adsl, or network cabling, yeah the fewer joins the better. But brake fluid won't know the difference, as you're after the ability to build and hold pressure, you're not after 'flow' as such.

Though it won't happen correctly installed, you're actually more likely to have a leak with the kit in the original post because it uses a banjo bolt and copper washers into the wheel cylinder, which was designed with a flare.
