The CV's are different between drum brakes and disc brakes, disc CV's are bigger. There are really only 2 different types of axles and either will work on either type of CV. There are axles that suit the later pot joints, typically on rod change gearboxes, and then there are those that suit the earlier large rubber or hardy spicer (Cooper S) type of universal joints typically found on remote change gearboxes. Depends on what type you have now, e.g. you can swap the drum brakes to disc brakes by using your existing axles but change the CV. As you're in Brisbane, best bet would be to contact one of the local mini businesses.

second hand drive shafts are not very expensive and as said before there are basically two type shafts and they only differ at the end close to the diff, the end that is fitted to the outboard cv joint is the same disc brakes or drum brakes

I can help you with anything you need, advise obviously the first thing to make sure you know what bits you need
& after that i can help with all the bits you need cause i have plenty of the stuff you need in stock at very reasonable prices

Hi there, trying to figure out what shafts I need for my deluxe, the only set i have under my other mini are for disk brake from end and the deluxe is drum front. what driveshafts/cv's do i need on the deluxe? it has a 1098 engine fitted, and i think it needs the inners that slide into the gearbox. where can i buy the required shafts and Cv's that isn't going to break the bank? and what exactly do i need? thanks Leroy.

I think You are looking at the CV Joint still attached to the drive shaft, CV joints are different sizes for the drum brake and the disc brake, but the drive shaft itself is no difference between drum brakes & disc brakes It looks like You are going to see Matt so you will be in good hands, he will be able to help foe sure yeah I need the entire thing, from the bit that goes into the gearbox tot he shaft that slides into the hub of the drum brake. ive messaged Matt, and will endevour to call him later on, though I am on a budget so hopefully he has something cheap 0_0 Leroy.
