Well after 7 long years, a shite load of money and a full re-build, Moneypit, my 1970 Aussie Cooper S is getting seriously close to being on the road and registered. I need to get some insurance in the next day or so and wondered who provides the best cover in terms of 4's and conditions. We have Claude, the 1964 UK 970 Cooper S covered by Lumley Special Vehicles. The premium is $515.61 per annum. For that the car is insured for $34,000 with an excess of $250. I would appreciate any advice from the ausmini brains trust. cheers, bam. |

Hi Bam, I have only recently joined the mini world but Shannon's was by far the best in terms of price, choice of repairer, glass protection and contents insurance ! I'm on $25 a month but thats only for an insured value of 10k, so your price stated above is probably in the same ball park. |

I am also on Shannon's and agree that their price and coverage is very good. Fortunately I have never needed to make a claim, so it's hard to say if they really are any good or if they'll put you through the same "we don't cover that" attitude that I have become accustomed to with most providers. I'd be very curious to hear from folks who have had good/bad experiences with making claims. |

Been with Shannons since 2004, all 4 of my cars are with Shannons (not all of which are classics, and some of them are daily drivers too) |

I have my daily with Shannons and all of my classics. They're really good to deal with, as far as insurance companies go. |

Other factors they consider are your age, if the vehicle is locked up at night and your postcode. |

I have Shannons insurance on both the Mini and the Ford AU. The Ford got caught in that big Sydney hailstorm 4? years ago, we had no probs with the Shannons claim. The Mini broke its original windscreen one Thursday last July, by the very next day Shannons & O'Briens had installed a nice new laminated (lightly tinted all over) one. I'm very happy with Shannons. |

Yup, Shannons look the go. Got great quotes for the '64 Cooper S; nearly $200 less than I am paying Lumleys. Will need pics of the 1970 car to increase the insured value but so far they look the best insurer to go with. I tried to get my daily covered but even bundling 3 cars with them the insurance on a 2002 BMW M3 was bleeding' high; more than the cover i have with WhichBank! Thanks all for the advice. |

Shannons where the only ones interested in dealing with my mini as a daily driver. all the others said they'd only cover it for an agreed value if it was a weekend / sunny day car, other wise it was insulting red book value. |

Mines insured for guaranteed $26000 as a daily driver think around $1100.00 anually with lumley special cars. Funny, Shannons weren't interested at all. I've got a clean driving record and never made a claim in my life. Been driving over 20 years. |

I got mine insured by NRMA vintage the other day. Agreed value was $8000 driven occasionally and I'm 25. It was $130 a year |

I heard a rumour from my mate, a Mini Cooper S owner the other day that NRMA Vintage & Veteran will not cover theft from a shopping centre. So he has now changed to Shannons. Better check your NRMA fine print.... |
