Hi everyone

So it seems to be that my fan belt keeps coming loose. I'm assuming it would be the alternator maybe moving? I don't really know where to go because all the bolts are tight and the sleeve in the top bracket is firm..

It's gotten sorta progressively worse, could go a few days of driving with it tight, then a day, half a day. Now it's just done 20km's and needs adjusting again or it squeals! argh

please help me

Thanks
James

Is the 9/16 nut that holds adjusting arm to the engine front plate tight

The alternator is held on with three bolts and one nut. Are they all there.

Yep they're all there, and they're all new bolts/nuts

And yes the 9/16 nut is done up nice and tight

Well I'd hope not, the engine is new, the water pump pulley is new and it's a new alternator

Is it actually going loose or is it just squealing a lot? Try rubbing some soap on it to stop the squeal.

It's definitely going loose. You can feel quite a difference in the tension

I originally thought it may just be stretching (as everything is new) but the belt has 600km on it now and still doing it. It still has lots of adjustment left on it though

Do the pulleys have the same section to match the belt.

Can you compare them to the old ones.

Yeah they seem to. I'm using the larger water pump pulley with the 70amp alternator. Side by side they look the same :\

The only thing left is the belt. Is it a good quality one from a good manufacturer

This is the belt I bought for it. To be totally honest I'm not sure if they're good or not

I would buy a belt from Oz. Take a pulley with you and the belt with you for the length.

I am not a fan of cogged belts. Find a vee one.

Fingers crossed it sorts your problem.
