What is the name of the colour used on MkII engines? I seem to recall "BMC Gold" Talking to Ron Williams at Tenterfield last year, he says there is a Valiant colour called Tiffany Green is pretty close to the BMC colour. Does anyone have a paint code or direct me to a previous post. Thanks!

`Cooper S green metallic'. It is a spraying enamel. John Smidt stocks it.

Thanks, I see MiniSport have it at $45.00 a tin. What is Johns web address?

We have just completed a rebuild on a Cooper S original engine and the owner wanted as close to original on the colour. Couldn't get the mix in an enamel so went with a COB (2K Clear over Base). From memory there are 7 tinters in this and while most ones that are close have a lot of silver, this mix has silver with a hint of orange and gold.

After a lot of searching and trials we came up with this:

We used a 'BASLAC' basecoat 35 with a clear on top. AMBER SHERWOOD F3 is a 1970 Dodge colour and most companies should have the same comparable mix.

Thanks Dave, I just shrunk the images down a little to a size that fits the screen a little better.

They were massive. I've just pulled them across to the Ausmini Photobucket, so the links aren't the same

The colour is really bright as it comes out of the gun, but it tones down to a much paler colour as it gets a little heat over the next few months.

Your colour looks much the same as the Mini King tint, so this image of mini today might represent well what I am talking about.

Hey Mick can you tell me where you got those type of hose clamps from?

The old wire ones?

They're the wrong ones for my car, but I got a kick out of fitting them, and I haven't had an excuse to take the hose off to fit the utilux ones instead...

I think I found them over time and had them zinc coated along with a batch of bolts. I think John Schmidt at Miniking used to sell them from time to time however. Give John a call.

They still make those wire hoseclamps in USA.

The correct Cooper S engine colour on an old Duco tin I have (never throw anything out) is Metallic Green - Duco colour code 203-13261.
203 is the paint type, in this case High Gloss lacquer, and 13261 is the colour code.
