I have a hydro mini and is my no means lowered and I found that the lowered shocks totally bottoms out quite low. Basically the lowered ones have such a short overall compression length that it does not allow for full suspension compression on Lillee. I would hate to think how bad this would be on the normal set...

Reversely the fully extended "lowered" sock is only centimeters (If that) off the the bump stop when fully extended (as in when your mini gets airborn, which you know happens all the time right).

So bottom line, buy lowered.

Hi Guys looking at getting some GAZ Adjustable Shock Absorbers for my 1976 mini Leyland. I have 12" rims on it and not sure which kit to get lowered or standard. how do I find out whats on my car now ? 1)GAZ Adjustable Shock Absorbers LOWERED Set 4 or 2)GAZ Adjustable Shock Absorbers Set 4 Also is mini sport in the UK the best place to get these or will shipping kill me?

Im running standard SPAX 20 point adustables on 10 inch rims with hi-los, but set at a slighlty lowered height. Ive set my shocks at 10 front 14 rear. Buying from the UK l try to buy in bulk as it keeps the cost of postage worthwhile. I will be buying Bilsteins in the near future, just to try something different.

I have a 1977 Clubman on 10 inch wheels and Hi-Lo's. I have standard length Gaz Adjustable Shocks on the front with the top bracket for the lowered suspension. I got Gaz Shocks in UK to make me a custom set for the rear, because when I went over speed bumps sometimes, the HiLo would disengage from the donut. The rear shock dimensions (eye to top of bottom mounting rubber) are 10 inches fully compressed, 14.5 inches fully extended. I worked this out by setting the HiLo's at the ride height that I wanted, then jacked up the rear and let the radius arm droop(floor jack under the hub) to the height that wouldnt let the HiLo jump out of the Donut.Then I measured the length that the shock should be at that point. This stopped my HiLo from disconnecting from the rubber donut when fully extended.This cost me 50 GBP plus freight for the rear ones. Their email is technical @gazshocks.com

The ad could help the customer out buy defining lowered. Anyway, I just measured my Hydro, it has the GAZ on the front. With 2.5 fingers between the wheel and the guard. With that height the GAZ length is 25 centimeters bolt center to bolt center. Is there a spec sheet on the shocks anywhere?

I was thinking about this same issue, except that I bought the standard gaz shockers and I reckon I have bottomed them out a few times on the dodgy roads where I live. Maybe I should look to get lowered ones but no website really says which is most suited. I chose standard because I thought there would be more travel overall and suit the limits of a minis suspension travel, not restrict full compression.

I got mine direct from GAZ; Their email is [email protected] A pair of custom adjustable rears cost me GBP50 plus freight to Aus. MiniSpares UK also stock the standard ones

I humbly admit I have never checked for this. I am guilty of assuming that a shock made for a mini would have appropriate travel for a mini. So the question is, what is the required minimum length for the shocks, front and rear, wet and dry? This should be the same regardless of ride height.
