With a change in diff ratio my speedo has me at about 35mph when I know I am ranging down the freeway at at least 100kph.
With the re-build a different diff ratio was used.

Is there any way to get the speedo re-calibrated to be within cooee of real speed?

Brill. Thanks Mackie. That's pretty close to where my car got de-rusted by Geoff at A Grade Panels.

Why do you want to recalibrate the speedo when all you should have to do is change the speedo drive gear ratio?

Check out these, they should put you in the ball park!

Guys, the speedo drive gears are in the gearbox and can be altered / changed without removing the engine. Changing the ratios will get your speedo reading correctly!
Read the info at guess-works!

Cheers Shane

I've been roughly going off the revs.. I'm either doing 100 or 80 in my area.. GPS app on the iphone helps too.

You used to be able to get a sticker that went on outside of glass, had kph markings in right places.

The main reason Howard's Instruments is referred to is because the owner, Rodger Howard is very Mini sympathetic. He has a garage full of vans, S's and other versions and is fairly active in the Mini scene. Not cheap but he does quality work.

Yup, went and met the man today. Certainly knows his stuff and has some tasty toys.

He has mine too at the moment, I have been there a few times now for different instruments. Great bloke, great business, highly recommended.
