Was going through a box of books and found this passport to service. Can anyone tell me if the YKE2S2 is a typo or did the E mean that it was exported to PNG. YKG2S2 would have been sold around that time and the engine number would match as well. http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t111 ... 407dbb.jpg |

That is very interesting. I think in this case it must be a mistake, the third prefix letter refers to engine capacity and there is no E. L = 0 to 799cc A = 800 to 999cc G = 1000 to 1399cc H = 1400 to 1999cc B = 2000 to 2999cc D = 3000cc up But anything is possible! I have seen the ID plate on a NZ sold Australian made Cooper S and it was quite normal. (normal if you know what YCG2S2 means!) |

I have seen a few passports to service and half of them have had something wrong. Usually key numbers, dates or rego numbers. This would have a big mistake. |

The human element to filling in Passport to service booklet's means there's regularly typos. This is more than likely just another example. The YCG 2S2 from the NZ sold car quite likely means it was an Austin. K = Morris Cooper C = Austin Cooper |

did I see a newly stamped id plate in that photo bucket album? Engine number awaiting the stamp? Gulson Special? http://s158.photobucket.com/user/ykg2s2 ... ort=4&o=12 edit; Mk 1 PNG Cooper's had the exact id plates as ours. |

I also saved it for future reference the last couple of times it was being sold. He told me that it is a genuine Mk2 Cooper S and that the Cooper S did come with 5 digit numbers stamped on the inner guard all the time. He also said that there is no difference between a Mini K and a Cooper S at all. And not all Mk2 Cooper S's came with heaters or oil coolers but they did come with shiny new ID plates. |

Problem is some poor sucker will believe him one day Morris. Probably pumping out Phase 3 GT HO plates too. |
