I think it was an economy head and not a performance one.
It looks like they were trying some sort of lean burn with the spark plug alongside the exhaust valve.
Lots of squish towards the inlet valve.

I wonder if the test holes were temp sensors or pressure sensors? I know, I will ask an ex-Leyland A+ engineer!

Been up for sale a few times i seen oct 2013 on one of them forums tim linked to for £200

Sounds like its a £100 door stop or mantal piece over in the uk

Yes, a lot of squish around the intake and that the squish is tapered towards the exhaust valve pocket which should super heat the mixture.
All in all, it looks like it should have worked. A whole lot better than a fresh air pump. :lol:
