I have dug out my 22G846 gearbox case and I'll need to build it up to support and handle the power from my 1360 BMW twincam engine. I hope the engine will make over 100bhp and I plan to tune it for torque, I will be running a 3.1 or 3.2 FD and a Quafie ATB (LSD). It will be a daily driver so no SC gears but I do like longer gears, (I don't want to be in 3rd at 40km doing 3000rpm ![]() From memory when I disassembled it I found broken teeth on the laygear. How do I find out what gear ratios the originals are ![]() Should I upgrade to a different, stronger gear set cluster/is there a difference ![]() What are peoples suggestions? |

Thats an elf box? Do they take the standard 22G927 4 syncro laygear? |

Yes they will with a little bit of fiddling around you can use the gears that are commonly called A plus gears if so desired I am talking about the internal gears not the drop gears, however even that can be achieved with a fair bit of work. I am sure Dr Kev will be able to advise you further |

I have the same box under my 1360. Treat it as a 1128 box. Same same. |

Can you fit a 4 syncro rod change gear set into this case? |

If its like a 22G1128 then yes. Only the reverse gear is different. |
