Ok, so there's been a few too many "I just have this Mini and I just got it and I just want to know what its worth" posts in Mini Chat.

The clear intent is to look for an Expression of Interest while getting the widest audience, but without putting a price on it, or putting it on eBay. There is more than enough resource out there to price a mini and its constituent parts. eBay, Gumtree, Trading Post and the For Sales on here.

I'll ask posters putting in a virtual EOI to refrain from doing so as I will simply delete the post.

Then shouldn't you delete all requests of how much things are worth? I simply was asking for a price guide as I did not know and there are not many resources on hydro pump up unit prices! There are however still mini chats asking for price guides on whole minis and parts? Interesting!!

Yep, spot on. Thats the point.

I'll get there. I'm not going to waste a night trawling through (I just got a new Hobie and want to pretend to row around the lounge room), but I will find them one by one.

Why not create an EOI category where people can put rare parts on and others who need that particular part can make an offer to buy. It would help people who are searching for a certain part to complete a project.

Let's face it a person may not want to part with a spare on ebay as the demand may not be there for the 9 day listing, but if they were offered more than they considered it was worth it might be sold and refitted to a car that needs it instead of sitting on a shelf in a shed for another 20 years.

The seller would need to change the post to 'sold' when it sold.

I think that we all want to see more minis put back on the road and we need the parts to be unearthed to do so.

We kind of already have these sections they are called for sale and wanted? Wouldn't that be the right place to put an EOI rather than in the general mini chat?

Historically they grate with the viewers, since 2004 essentially.

Many just prefer a straight up and down price, not a guessing game.

True, but I paid less than half what the advertised price was on my recent Mini purchase - purely because the person listing it did not know its 'true'/market value, and the price was literally something that was derived from a number he liked.

It may never have sold at the original price.

Yes, and that's an attraction. I get the upside, the sellers get a focus crowd, and none of the fees of eBay, and that's good for them. Ausmini users get a first look instead of going out to the anonymous hordes of eBay, and that's a good thing too.

The ads as they are being put into Mini Chat are ambiguous, and its not plain if they will be sold or not, and neither are they to do with improving or repairing a Mini. You can't have your cake and eat it too, its for sale or its not. They're also not what the room is about.

I'll create a room, and put a sunset clause on the threads within the room of perhaps several days. After that the ads will automatically be removed. Repeat ads will not be allowed. If the room gets used, it will stay, if not, then it will disappear.

Good compromise Mick, I agree with this approach.

Users can find the room here: viewforum.php?f=42 under Trading Post.

Rules are as above.
1. One ad only. Keep all parts in one post. Users flooding the room will have their topics pruned.
2. Topics will be displayed for seven days only.
3. No repeat ads, one shot only.

It will turn into an Auction. Just wait, you'll see.

I reckon it might, but it will be between the seller and the person making the offer.

There's no replies in the thread, its offline only.
