As our beloved Mini continues to age we are increasingly challenged finding quality replacement parts. Some items look like the original factory item but inferior materials and manufacturing methods show them to be poor quality examples of the part they are replacing.

The presence of poor quality replacement parts is not a recent phenomenon. As far back as 1966 BMC Australia were aware that cheaper parts were available in the market place. The following letter shows the lengths to which BMC went to prove that some non-factory parts were not being manufactured to the original specification.
