Wanting to drop the subframes out of the mini it has no engine in it at the moment but is a hydro car so is the process much more involved the a dry car

and i know people have made up car trolleys before any diagrams of these or is there a good way to move the shell around without subbys

Excellent question...Marc..sorry I dont have an answer for you ..Sorry as I'v only taken out a dry at thins stage but I'm expecting to release the pressure from the hydro unite (bothsides)
A couple of the guys and gal's have built a frame for under mini's to suport so I guess they will follow on

can you please update your location to give us a little more info so we can help out a little more

not any more involved, just undo the hydro lines on the firewall at the front, and on the back of the rear subframe - leave the steel lines in place on the car. You can let the fluid out from the valves at the back, but there will still be some in the lines so don't do it over your mum's living room carpet 8) . The hard part is when you're putting it back together, need to evacuate and refill the hydro system. Do a search for hydro pumps, they've been discussed a few times

Trolley is very good for moving the shell around, but a rotisserie would be much better for doing any floor repairs.

Here's some pics of mine....

What's the best way to remove the front subframe?
Lift the over the top, or hold the car up and drop out underneath?
With/without engine?

without engine
will the fluid out of the suspension hoses leak stuff all over the place

I lifted my engine out first, then unbolted the subframe and lifted the body off the subframe.

It is fairly easy to do it all with the engine still on the subframe....

-Unbolt the 2x U bolts holding the steering rack to the body, and also remove the steering column.
-Remove the 4x tower bolts, 4x rear of subframe bolts, 2x front of subframe bolts.
-Completely remove the manifolds.
-Remove your shock absorbers.
-Remove the brake line that goes down to the subframe.
-Remove your radiator, alternator and oil filter mount. (Radiator can stay on but its a tight fit)
-Remove the earth strap.
-Completely remove the gear selector arm at the diff.
-Put some supports under the rear of the subframe.

You and a friend should be able to lift the body up off the subframe and over the engine, then wheel the car back away and onto some jack stands or some old rims.

There may be another couple things to unbolt - just check it all first.
