Did all mini's have slots for the demister vents? Under the windscreen, each side of the ashtray.

I found Susanna the 63 850 has these slots, under some bog, but I don't think she's ever had a heater?

Did all cars get the slots, would they have been covered over if not used, with vinyl like the rest of the crash pad?

Thanks!

I wanted to just have a painted finish on the crash pad, like the previous owner did, but these slots now need filling or covering

Yes they all got the slots, even early 850.
Coopers also got a metal escutcheon on top of each slot.

No roundnose Minis here got a `crash pad' on top. All except Coopers (vinyl covered) were just painted body colour.

Okay cool, so they were always there, sometimes they just do nothing.

Thanks!
I don't know if I'll cover mine up or not

They are a good storage place for business cards and pens. The difficult part is getting them out again!

Any tips on how to fix them if they have been butchered? Mine have been mangled by the previous owner so it is on my list of things to fix and given the location it looks like a ning nong of a place to try and fix
