Post subject:  SuperSprint Sup Reg Requirements

Hi All,
We will be doing the Bathurst SuperSprint in early November. Part of the Aussie Muscle Car Run to raise cash for Leukaemia.
The Sup Regs call for a radiator catch can and towing hooks or similar device for front & rear.
What do people use for radiator catch cans and rear two hooks?
Any photos much appreciated.
It is in a Mini K as per the photos.
Standard rubber subframe at rear.

Howdy

On my group n mini I use a plastic bottle with the rubber radiator overflow tube fed into it, located just in front of the wiper motor. Scrutineers seem happy with it.

For tow hooks, visit Autosport on Magill road and get some fabric ones. They bolt through a metal eyelet through the sub frames, and I then cable tie them up out of the way. Use small cable ties that can be broken if you need to use the tow straps.

No photos sorry, car is not stored at home.

Hope this helps.

I use some old seat belt strap looped over and clamped with a 2x2 steel plate with a half inch bolt to the subframe, rolled up and cabled tied out of the way. Home made auto sport version :)
The catch can should be min 2 litres and remove the blue engine breather.... Run the hose from there. You can use a milk bottle as long as it's strapped on securely. Coolant overflow is a good idea too so they don't peg you for fluid on the track.

Radiator overflow / expansion tank from the BMC Parts Bin (MGB, Austin 1800, Range Rover etc) in the foreground, left side of the photo with the radiator cap. Engine breather catch tank just behind it with the red cap and 2 large hoses, is an old plastic 2L oil container.

Tow hooks are home made.

Thanks for the photos - some good ideas.
I was going to run the engine breather into the carby, similar to that on some of the 998 Clubmans with the 1.5 inch SU. A half inch hose from the breather, into the side of the carby.
