Did all Mini panelvans come with roof vents?
If not, when did they start?

Image

Would this have been patched - given it is a ribbed roof?

And the authenticity of it being Austin?
(round, chrome door safety bosses?)

Not sure willy. I have been looking at vans but there isn't a huge amount of info out there. I have seen a 71 Austin without a vent if that helps?

CJ

edit - it is hard to spot as it is an old link but towards the bottom of the page the blue van has no vent http://www.minicityltd.com/pgCarsforsale/carsforsale.html

edit - going back though my PM's according to Watto all Vans started with vents http://bmcexperience.com.au/issue-21/mini-van.html I don't know when they stopped making them with vents? Aussie ones had vents right through to the K according to the adverts. Clubbies I am not sure?

I thought it was a dealer or after market option.

Just to throw you a bit look at my van in my avatar :D .
It's a 74 and has no roof vent, I also have a 76 and a 78 with no vents.

The last of the Australian round-nose Mini parts books (PUB1056M) shows the vent as standard, not an option. In case it means something to Van people, the part number for the roof changed at car number YJBAV2R-794, whenever that was, and the vent continued. The early Clubman van had the same roof. Later Clubman van parts are on microfiche but I'm not home so can't check when the vent was deleted.

Edit: In the Clubman van brochure here there is no vent - viewtopic.php?f=32&t=73880

That van has Japanese rego, so its probably British and could be as late as 1982. It shouldn't have that grille but could be an Austin.

If you look carefully it has extra holes on the scuttle for wipers for when the go to left hand drive I think that is a 70's-80's thing
