K so i've drained the clutch, removed the master cyl so I could get to the second nut on the brake master, and successfully removed the brake master (messy++). Ive started to disassemble the brake master but am kind of stuck now. ![]() I've removed the primary piston but cant seem to get the second one out. As of yet I haven't undone the big bolt at the other end of the cylinder, is that what's holding it in? It seems to be off center to the mcylinder bore so I wasn't sure if it's holding the secondary piston in. Other thing is there seems to be *alot* more rubbers in the kit then I've pulled out so far. Only ones I can see are the two on the primary piston, the two seals where the lines go in and the cup at the end of the push rod (marked 2 - how do you get this off without ripping it?). I'm guessing there's a lot more rubbers near the secondary piston or the kit is compensating for different master cyl builds (??). Finally how do you take off the rubber on the primary piston (marked 1. and ?) out? ![]() ![]() Took me ages to get the clevis pins out (haynes didnt even have it as a step in removing brake mcyl!!) but I'm glad I was able to get this far. Just want the whole thing disassembled so I can replace all the rubbers before cleaning and reassembling. Thx for any help Shard |

If you are replacing them just get a pair of scissors onto them and cut them off but if not just get a metal scribe or something like it and pry it off I just put a kit in the master cylinder of the clutch and it is basically the same, it is easier to get them on as to get them off. Pat |

Even though it's pretty gross, I lubricate the rubbers in fresh brake fluid oil before rolling them on over the end of the pistons. Makes for a better job with less chance of failing. Wash with metho afterwoods before lubricating again with fresh stuff and assembling. It's really important to lubricate with the fluid before re-assembly as you can ruin the seals as you push them in if they're dry. |

When I did Barney's tandem MC a few weeks back I couldn't get the top piston out either. So, I took it down the road to B & R Brakes and got them to fit the kit.. ![]() ![]() |

Damn. Any chance you'd be able to find out how they did it :/. Dunno where to take it here in melb to get it done without paying $100+ labour ![]() Shard |

Cost me $45 to get the PBR seal kit I had bought fitted, at B&R Brakes. Any decent brake place down there could do it. It's their job. Clubbies used to be common.. ![]() |
