Hi, could I get some info on this round nose panelvan from the build plate?

You have cut the top off but from the engine number it could possibly be a K Van? This site http://www.mini.org.au/mini_identification.html lists that engine prefix as belonging to a 1100 Mini K Van.

Mini K would be a good start being round nose and 1098. Brains trust could probably help more with the numbers side of things.

Is it normal for the id plates for that era to be this scratched and messed up? Would there be any issues getting it registered?

Get a stiff bristled toothbrush & some WD40 and give the plate a bit of a scrub , see how it comes up .

I think it is a 1969 Mini K van (Morris Mini 1100 Van).

The ID plate will probably say..

Quote:
Model = Mini Van
Type = YJBAV4R
Serial Number = ? (somewhere around the 3800 mark I would guess)
Engine Number = 10YJUH 4233
Colour = 1/Cadet Blue/1
GVW = 2044lbs

There is no problem with a scratched ID plate. There is no legal requirement for them except commercial vehicles must have a GVW weight which is why vans had ID plates in 69 when the sedans didn't.

Unfortunatly this happens often when there is a brake fluid spill, a few wipes and the paint is gone from the plate, the lower section of my ID plate is like this.

As stated not a requirement for rego, but they should/will be more interested in the stampings in the actual body (which should match the number on the plate)
