This is like what the 4th time i about 2 years?

I was on my way to work (where i am now) and got about 4km from work and the cable just snapped. Pulled over, adjusted the idle on the carby and coasted the rest of the way to work at about 20km/hr..took me another 15min to get to work (normally i can get to work from home in 30min )

So yeap..got to work ok, on msn talking and czerial lives about 5min from where i work and he just happened to have a spare that he removed from Elmo 8)

So Chris being the nice fella that he is pops over to my work at 2am in the morning  Thanks Heaps.

That's a pretty sharp angle at the end where the inner cable comes out of the sheath.. Maybe it's rubbing through?

I was just about to say Josh, it's about time you investimagated why it's doing that in the first place. The angle does look abit sharp. Maybe you need to oil/grease the cable?

if you get stuck like that again you could always try rigging up a hand throttle with some string and a stick for a handle. I don't know how well it would work on a Mini though because you would have to pull the throttle linkage towards the front of the car which would be hard if you are using string :)

I know someone who did this on a car before and just rigged it up so that pulling the spring would rev the car. they drove it like this until they got home or whatever to fix it.

You can hook your choke cable up to it and pull the choke... works really really badly though!

The most common reason for killing throttle cables is not allowing enough slack at full throttle. If you carby hits the stop and and your foot is not on the floor and you keep pushing you are loading up the cable. You should adjust the cable so that when your foot is on the floor you are just a tad under full throttle on the carby.

But Mini Mads problem may be caused by the angle that the cable is being pulled through.

Interesting to see if the cable brakes with the new motor

:P

It keeps breaking where the nuts squeez the cable, there is a washer in there ..I know before when they broke the cable didn't have any slack at full throttle and was getting tugged..but i fixed that..This time it snapped clean though :? ..like there were no frayed bits or strands..just a clean break..
