Hello, new on the mini scene here after about a 12 year hiatus.

Looking to find out some information about any mini friendly mechanics/garages/auto sparkys etc based in Perth WA that anyone can recommend? Obviously I have heard of Minicraft, I just wondered if there were any other lesser known garages out there. All suggestions are welcomed.

Cheers

Ross

Hi Ross,

For Parts has recently opened up and is run by Jason who is on this forum under the username Babes. While I haven't been to the shop yet, I have dealt with Jason before and have nothing but good things to say.

Minicraft is still around and has been since I was a boy, when I first started going there. I have always had pretty good service here with only the occasional hiccup.

Unfortunately I don't know of any other garage/mechanics or sparkys as I do all that work myself. The WA crowd on here are pretty helpful so I'm sure the rest of the boys will chime in with some more info for you.

Welcome back to Minis :)

Cheers,
Keels.

Hi Ross,

Where abouts in Perth are you?

Jason has now sold For Parts so no real alternative to Minicraft which is a real shame because lack of competition certainly leads to some very large and expensive 'hiccups'!

Veale stock a lot of engine parts such as bearing etc. Minisport in Adelaide have good delivery times for parts while Minisport UK are great for price and selection. Machining I highly highly recommend Performance Modifications in Osborne Park, they do a lot of work for Wilf Chambers also in Osborne Park, he is also very good and specialises in anything British.

Other than that this forum is excellent for advise and people willing to help with most mechanical issues you may have. Some of the Perth gurus are Jason (Babes) and Rodney (Boomini), both very knowledgable, friendly and always willing to help where they can. I'm always good for beer n BS :D

Hi Ross

Welcome back to the world of minis mate. As mentioned I did have a business which I have been bought out of and the new owners are not interested in anything mini.

Having said that there are stillpeople here in Perth who can help you. Where in Perth are you? We all help each other out here on the forum and between all of us we can arrange panel/paint, engine rebuilds and tell you where to source the best parts.

Anything you want to know just ask mate.

Cheers
Jason

Ross
As the guys have said their are plenty of friendly MINI people in Perth, me included

I can help you out with any mini parts , I have a shed full , I can also source new components at a reasonable price.

I have limited time to provide any mechanical services at he moment due other work commitments , but would consider negotiating an arrangement if it suits us both.

Excellent response from everyone, thanks very much. Its good to be back and even better to be welcomed back. We are based north of the river for now. Looks like I'll be giving Minicraft a call sometime soon. No specific issues, juts want to test the waters for quality and cost etc.

Just to let you know, I have a 97' Cooper (Jap import). I'm a bit suspect about having air-con....although for what its worth it blows freezing cold.
