Hi All,

I picked up a steering column for one of my projects, but it didn't come with a key.

Where there many different keys? could I just try to find someone with some spares and get lucky? or can i get a new one cut by a lock smith?

or is none of that possible/worth the effort?

Thanks

I would take the barrel to a locksmith, wont be expensive

There's a number usually stamped into the barrel which can be converted into a key type. Mini mobs used to have keyboards you could choose your pre-made key from. I think there must have been upwards of 50 on the board at a guess.

But other than that, a locksmith can create one by looking at the barrel with his locksmith thingos and cut a key to match.

Apparently not on the Clubman barrels I was told by someone who should know. Haven't confirmed myself though.

I agree, take it to a good locksmith. With the lock not installed in the car you won't have the added expense of a call out fee.
